What Is Local Search Marketing?
Local search marketing allows one to find the closest establishment that has whatever it is they are looking for with ease. Some people call it local SEO as well. Local search marketing is all about putting your business on the map in local searches when customers are searching for services from a business like yours.
We’ve all been there: we’re hungry and we want a burger, we search “burger joint near me” and Google does its thing to provide us a list of local burger places.
The results will look something like the below.
How Do Local SEO Services Help Your Business?
According to a study conducted by Forbes, 95% of smartphone users have used their devices to conduct local searches out of which 61% have called the business and a further 59% have visited the store. Crazy, right? But we aren’t surprised!
Leads from localized searches are a major source of qualified leads and if done correctly can help you build a loyal local customer base after you’re discovered.
How Local Search Marketing Works
The best way to build a solid local search marketing strategy is to use methods that optimize your online information so that search engines place your business in the right searches.
In order to do this, you must tell search engines everything they need to know about your business.
It’s best to remember the acronym NAPU (Name, Address, Phone number, URL). These 4 items of information should be listed on the most important directories so that search engines know what you do and where you’re located. By important directories, we mean places such as your website (on as many pages if possible), your Google My Business profile, and any other website or page your business may be mentioned.
Pro tip: Any time your business information changes, whether it be a phone number change or an address update, be sure to update this information anywhere on the web where your information is listed.
Consistent and accurate information will show the search engine that it can trust your business.
If your information isn’t accurate or consistent search engines won’t trust your business and will be reluctant to show them to searchers. They will instead show the competition. We don’t want that, do we?
How to Get Started
Hopefully, by now, you have a sense of just how important a solid local search strategy is.
If your company meets with its customers directly — either through a storefront or service area, you most likely need or currently use local SEO practices. Allow people to find information about your business quickly and easily. After all, this puts them one step closer to a transaction.
Don’t let your business go unnoticed by local customers and start building your base of loyal “regulars” in your area.
